Who Am I as a Communicator?

Who Am I as a Communicator?

During this week making a evaluation of a communicator, and How other people evaluated me, is great to know that I and others see me as a kind person who always respect, listening to others , trying to maintain good relationships.”I am an empathetic and concerned with emotions of others, this help me in build relationships.”(evaluation test)

One of the most thing that surprise to me was that in the evaluation said that  “ I tend to be very trust on others”. I think I like to trust in people but I not think so much, there must be a balance in what we do.

The evaluation test said also that I maintain a good balance between respect and consideration from others viewpoints.

Is important to communicate with respect, ”smile, as you speak or when you speak using a particular tone or volume.”( O'Hair, D., & Wiemann, M. 2012. pag128). Not use offensive words, questions, and be a good listener.” listening helps us achieve our most basic human need. to understand and be understood.”( O'Hair, D., & Wiemann, M. 2012. pag158).

For me is important to have a good communication with others specially with the children and parents to foster good relationships with them in the future. During this exercise, increased in me my desire to learned more clues, that are going to help me in being a better communicator.

“when you take the time to actually listen, with humility, to what people have to say, it’s amazing what you can learn. Especially if the people who are doing the talking also happen to be children.” Greg Mortenson.

Communication and Culture

Communication and Culture

I think I’m a very social person, for me it is easy to maintain communication. One of the different that I found in my way of communication to others is that I greet to the people affectionately by hand, with a hug, a kiss. Sometimes I feel that for some people of different cultures they surprised because they not use that greeting.

Strategies for help me in communicate more effectively:

·                     Respect to others, and project an image of friendship, support, and acceptance.

·                     Recognize cultural differences, and learn more about different cultures.

·                     Speaks with knowledge, security and confidence.

·                     Be clear, communication with empathy: see the situation from the perspective of the other person.

·                     Be a good listening.” listening helps us achieve our most basic human need: to understand and be understood.”( DanO’Hair.Real Communication.(pp.158).

·                     Used positive words, and actions.” being motivated to establish positive relationships with others who are different from us is a key aspect of communication in intercultural competent ways.”( Beebe, S. A., Beebe, S. J., & Redmond, M. V. 2011.)

“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately  Determines the quality of our lives.” Anthony Robins.

Communication

Communication Skills

When I saw the Tv show ”God luck Charlie”, I understood
the program with the gestures that they did, when they laugh,
and act. The different faces tell us what they want to

communicate.
I think in communication the gestures, “express

spontaneous feelings."
and words come together. We need to observe and
listen to understand in a better way the things. “nonverbal
behavior often serves to clarify meaning by reinforcing verbal
 messages.”( O'Hair, D., Friedrich, G. W., & Dixon, L. D.
2011. Pag.131)

The characters of the show express emotion when they

hug each other, or in their eyes communicate expressions

and feelings, love. When someone did
something  their facial expression show that they are
angry, surprise, fear,  and interest.

If I saw a show that I know well ,I think I understand the same
because I need to pay attention to the different gestures,
faces. If I don’t have audio, I think I try to understand what
they are doing and how they want to communicate.

Sometimes with a smile ,we could know that something
positive is happen, we communicate with our body, actions,
gestures, facial expressions, eye behavior. ”we communicate
with many tools other than language”( O'Hair, D., Friedrich,
 G. W., & Dixon, L. D. 2011.pag.128).

Communication

Communication

without communication, there is no relationship, without respect, there is no love.

Family member that demonstrate a good communication with their children.

I want to share with you the story of my friend Andrea who’s daughter Natalia who has 12 years old was invited to a friend’s house for dinner. At dinner time Natalie didn’t ate, she told her mom that she didn’t want to eat, and there are kids of different ages around her, and she also has little sisters. Everyone was watching and waiting for her mother’s reaction.

This story is about how important it is to know and communicate with the children but you need to be careful and know how to answer, as there are many small children that are watching the bad behavior of the big girl who will not eat.

I saw that her mother approached to her daughter and said: “Eating is important so that you can grow well, be healthy, and not get sick. Food is necessary to live and grow up healthy. In your plate are vegetables, rice, and meat which are all necessary for your health. You need to do good decisions in your live is you don’t want to get sick. It’s your health, you grow your brain, if you eat you could grow well and also your brain will learn better, and you will be a healthy girl.”

Some of the children begin to say that they eat vegetables, milk, etc, that they want to grow healthy to be good students, and not to have illness. If the mother of the 12 year old girl said: do not eat its ok, react in a bad way, or shout to her then it would have been worse for everyone, and a bad moment.

So for me it’s important to always try to communicate with others in a good way: not hurting people, respecting them, and letting them know that sometimes they are wrong but in a good manner. Communication is vital for everyone and it’s important to learn more about it.

Professional Hopes and Goals

Professional Hopes and Goals

We have become not a melting pot but a beautiful  mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams. “Jimmy Carter”

One of my hopes is to foster an excellent relationship with  families and children diverse and always support them. In that way they would  accept ,know and respect and foster good relationships. To develop and grow in a better world without prejudices.

I want children in my class  feel good and secure, learning in an environment of love, acceptance, respect, and  also learning the different cultures beliefs, of others, this will which help  them to learn more about each other.

One goal for me is to accept  and understand the different cultures of every family, respect to them and also learn each day from them.

I want people to know that we are unique and that we should accept  to each other and try to foster good relationships.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”Martin Luther King,Jr.”

There is but one law for all, namely that law which governs all law, the law of our Creator, the law of humanity, justice, equity the law of nature and of nations. ” Edmund Burke”

I want to said to everyone a special thank you for sharing your knowledge, and your support during this class, I enjoyed each of your post and your experiences. I wish the best to every one!

Thanks maria

Welcoming Families From Around the World

TURKISH, FAMILY

·         Having a strong teacher parent relationship, providing them strategies to support, maintain, preserve home language learning. So is important to invite parents to share with class typical food, cultural items, holiday traditions, songs.

·         Keep the family informed about class topics and activities.

·         Learning a few words in the child’s home language also shows the children that you are making an effort to help them succeed in the classroom.

·         Provide a welcoming environment , having signs in Turkish language in our class, post a welcome sign on the door in Turkish .

·         Creating a good environment helping the children to develop confidence, self-esteem, and positive cultural identity, is our responsibility as educators to c a classroom community that is accepting of all of our students, no matter their communications abilities, their physical abilities, and their cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

Is important to have a good parent relationship, we could learn from each other, I would learn from the parents some Turkish words means for helping the children in understand in a better way another language. Also creating an environment of respect, love that allows children to really feel important, supported, is important to know the needs and characteristics of each individual child.

So the challenge for a teacher is to provide high-quality care education for the children who are likely to be linguistically and cultural diverse.

The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

PEOPLE                              DISCRIMINATION
                                     SOCIAL                              BIAS                                  UNEQUAL
GROUP

PREJUDICE

     INDIVIDUAL                                                                                      RACE

I think a few months ago I did a mock trial on a friend to which he had as a selfish, materialistic, and I think she is rude and never thought of others just live and think for her. But one day I decided to open up and know her well, talk deep with her, and now I really see who she was, I felt so bad for all these years thinking bad about her, I decide that moment to be honest with her and I said her that I thought she was different, but I was thinking in a bad way of her all of this time. “everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences, No one can eliminate prejudices-just recognize them. ”Edward Roscoe Murrow,1995.

How important is to really know the others, do not judge people without knowing them, we need to be more open and not live and grow with these prejudices, that hurt us. Prejudice, oppression “Can affect our individual sense of self and undermine our healthiest and fullest development as human beings.”( Derman- Sparks. Anti-Bias Education.2010.pag.25)

This incident is for me a huge opportunity, because from now I’ll do false testimony of the people, and I will try to see things in a more open way, we need to accept our difference, and always start t respecting all the people as they are.

“the less secure a man is, the more likely he is to have extreme prejudice. ”Clint Eastwood.
