Communication
without
communication, there is no relationship, without respect, there is no love.
Family member that demonstrate a good communication with
their children.
I want to share
with you the story of my friend Andrea who’s daughter Natalia who has 12 years
old was invited to a friend’s house for dinner. At dinner time Natalie didn’t ate,
she told her mom that she didn’t want to eat, and there are kids of different
ages around her, and she also has little sisters. Everyone was watching and
waiting for her mother’s reaction.
This story is
about how important it is to know and communicate with the children but you
need to be careful and know how to answer, as there are many small children
that are watching the bad behavior of the big girl who will not eat.
I saw that her
mother approached to her daughter and said: “Eating is important so that you
can grow well, be healthy, and not get sick. Food is necessary to live and grow
up healthy. In your plate are vegetables, rice, and meat which are all necessary
for your health. You need to do good decisions in your live is you don’t want
to get sick. It’s your health, you grow your brain, if you eat you could grow
well and also your brain will learn better, and you will be a healthy girl.”
Some of the
children begin to say that they eat vegetables, milk, etc, that they want to
grow healthy to be good students, and not to have illness. If the mother of the
12 year old girl said: do not eat its ok, react in a bad way, or shout to her then
it would have been worse for everyone, and a bad moment.
So for me it’s
important to always try to communicate with others in a good way: not hurting
people, respecting them, and letting them know that sometimes they are wrong
but in a good manner. Communication is vital for everyone and it’s important to
learn more about it.
Mario,
ResponderEliminarI enjoyed reading your post. You are right, it is very important to communicate and listen to young children. Also, we have to be careful of what we say around children. It sounded like Natalia’s mother was very clear in explaining the reasons her child should eat. Thank for sharing!!
Thanks for sharing this story and your post this week, Maria! I too, am looking forward to studying communication. It will be good to reflect on our strengths and the areas we need to work on too. I often am reminded that communication, especially communication around children is worth attending to. More than once, I have been surprised to hear my exact words come right back to me in a conversation with a three year old! "Be Mindful" is my motto.

Hi Maria,
ResponderEliminarI agree with you, it is really important to display effective communication with our children. Children will only confide in adults that know how to communicate with them and not condemn them for their actions or the mistakes they make in life.
Yes, positive communication is the key to success. Adults do not always effectively communicate with their children and at times children are lost and seek to find answers elsewhere, these answers are not always the good. Good communication at young ages can lead to good communication in adulthood. Thanks for the post.
