Professional Hopes and Goals

Professional Hopes and Goals

We have become not a melting pot but a beautiful  mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams. “Jimmy Carter”

One of my hopes is to foster an excellent relationship with  families and children diverse and always support them. In that way they would  accept ,know and respect and foster good relationships. To develop and grow in a better world without prejudices.

I want children in my class  feel good and secure, learning in an environment of love, acceptance, respect, and  also learning the different cultures beliefs, of others, this will which help  them to learn more about each other.

One goal for me is to accept  and understand the different cultures of every family, respect to them and also learn each day from them.

I want people to know that we are unique and that we should accept  to each other and try to foster good relationships.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”Martin Luther King,Jr.”

There is but one law for all, namely that law which governs all law, the law of our Creator, the law of humanity, justice, equity the law of nature and of nations. ” Edmund Burke”

I want to said to everyone a special thank you for sharing your knowledge, and your support during this class, I enjoyed each of your post and your experiences. I wish the best to every one!

Thanks maria

Welcoming Families From Around the World

TURKISH, FAMILY

·         Having a strong teacher parent relationship, providing them strategies to support, maintain, preserve home language learning. So is important to invite parents to share with class typical food, cultural items, holiday traditions, songs.

·         Keep the family informed about class topics and activities.

·         Learning a few words in the child’s home language also shows the children that you are making an effort to help them succeed in the classroom.

·         Provide a welcoming environment , having signs in Turkish language in our class, post a welcome sign on the door in Turkish .

·         Creating a good environment helping the children to develop confidence, self-esteem, and positive cultural identity, is our responsibility as educators to c a classroom community that is accepting of all of our students, no matter their communications abilities, their physical abilities, and their cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

Is important to have a good parent relationship, we could learn from each other, I would learn from the parents some Turkish words means for helping the children in understand in a better way another language. Also creating an environment of respect, love that allows children to really feel important, supported, is important to know the needs and characteristics of each individual child.

So the challenge for a teacher is to provide high-quality care education for the children who are likely to be linguistically and cultural diverse.

The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

PEOPLE                              DISCRIMINATION
                                     SOCIAL                              BIAS                                  UNEQUAL
GROUP

PREJUDICE

     INDIVIDUAL                                                                                      RACE

I think a few months ago I did a mock trial on a friend to which he had as a selfish, materialistic, and I think she is rude and never thought of others just live and think for her. But one day I decided to open up and know her well, talk deep with her, and now I really see who she was, I felt so bad for all these years thinking bad about her, I decide that moment to be honest with her and I said her that I thought she was different, but I was thinking in a bad way of her all of this time. “everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences, No one can eliminate prejudices-just recognize them. ”Edward Roscoe Murrow,1995.

How important is to really know the others, do not judge people without knowing them, we need to be more open and not live and grow with these prejudices, that hurt us. Prejudice, oppression “Can affect our individual sense of self and undermine our healthiest and fullest development as human beings.”( Derman- Sparks. Anti-Bias Education.2010.pag.25)

This incident is for me a huge opportunity, because from now I’ll do false testimony of the people, and I will try to see things in a more open way, we need to accept our difference, and always start t respecting all the people as they are.

“the less secure a man is, the more likely he is to have extreme prejudice. ”Clint Eastwood.
