Ensuring Children Have Quality Care

Save the Children has found that the best way to protect children is to keep
them with their families. And to help caregivers provide them with the right
attention and services. Save the Children supports education programs for
children in the classroom and at home.

  • We train teachers to engage their students through more effective teaching practices.
  • We coach parents and caregivers to help their children learn early on, so they are prepared to enter school.
  • We offer ways for parents and community volunteers to get kids reading and doing math outside of school hours.
  • We introduce children to the power of artistic expression – drawing, painting, music, drama, dance and more – to help them heal, learn and do better in school

In 2011, Save the Children's education programs reached nearly 10 million children, thanks to the many families, teachers, government officials and community volunteers who help inspire these little learners.

Early Education gives children an early start that will
resonate through their entire lives.

Jazmine, age 4, of Queets, Washington, and Diverson, age 5 of Zomba, Malawi. Although they live
on opposite sides of the globe, early education, provided by Save the Children, is helping them learn
skills that will prepare them for school and for life. Follow along as they read, share, play, paint,
color, count and more at school and at home.
This video touched me a part of me,I think that as educators we need  to help children  to develop their skills. For me the only thing that the teachers will need to help the children is the vocation, and the desire to serve them.

  1. Maria,
I was employed at Headstart for several years and we were required to complete two home visit a year. They were very interesting because they let us observed the environments the children lived in. The parents enjoyed them because they felt like we were on a personal basis with them. The home visit lets us know why a child acted the way they did sometimes. This post was interesting especially the video.

  2. Maria, I always enjoy reading your posts. They are very informational.I like the save the children organization. They are doing some wonderful things for children all over the world. I enjoyed watching this video. I agree with you the only thing teachers need to do to help children is the training, and knowledge and the desire to serve them. Thanks for sharing.

  3. Hi Maria, I often gather new ideas from my colleagues, posting. However, we have to say thanks to the Save the Children Fund, because it is the world's leading independent organization for children. This organization does play a very important role to inspire breakthroughs in the way children are treated in the world, and to transform their lives. Also, children have achieved a happy, healthy, and secured childhood. I appreciate the innovative ways it helps children to survive and thrive.

  4. What a empowering video. I have heard of save the children before, but in all honesty now that I am teaching in early childhood, and taking these courses I feel like I can make more of a difference in this field. This was a great post!
