Convention on the Rights of the Child

 

 

Children have rights as human beings and also need special care and protection.

Built on varied legal systems and cultural traditions, the

 Convention is a universally agreed set of non-negotiable

standards and obligations. These basic standards—also

called human rights—set minimum entitlements and

freedoms that should be respected by governments. They

are founded on respect for the dignity and worth of each

 individual, regardless of race, colour, gender, language,

religion, opinions, origins, wealth, birth status or ability

and therefore apply to every human being everywhere.

The Convention sets out these rights in 54 articles and

 two Optional Protocols.

 It spells out the basic human rights that children

 everywhere have: the right to survival; to develop to the

 fullest; to protection from harmful influences, abuse and

 exploitation; and to participate fully in family, cultural

and social life. The four core principles of the Convention

are non-discrimination; devotion to the best interests of

the child; the right to life, survival and development; and

 respect for the views of the child. Every right spelled out

 in the Convention is inherent to the human dignity and

harmonious development of every child. The Convention

protects children's rights by setting standards in health

care; education; and legal, civil and social services.

national governments have committed themselves to

protecting and ensuring children's rights and they have

agreed to hold themselves accountable for this

commitment before the international community.

States parties to the Convention are obliged to develop

and undertake all actions and policies in the light of the

best interests of the child.

I have had great difficulty in contact with Unicef, so I will work with Save the Children, and Word Forum Foundation.


SAVE THE CHILDREN
In many rural parts of the world,families urgently need support to grw,or buy food for their children to trive.

• To help parents provide for their children;s basic nutritional needs,save the children's Hunger,focus on improving the food supply .

Save the Childrern: Give families fod staples following a natural disastre or emergency,they teach parents about the importance of proving their child food to prevent malnutirition,they train small- scale farmers how to prevent the loss of crops(flood or disease),they guide family on how to grow more nutritiouns food,They give youth the skills to succed,like building their savings, teching them how to manage money.
In 2011, Save the children livehoods programs readed more than 7 millions children,and adults.

 Karl Frey's life trajectory




 The distance between Peach Bottom, Pa., and Wajir, Kenya, is 7,800 miles. That also happens to be the distance of Karl Frey's life trajectory, which has arced from growing up Mennonite on his family's Lancaster County dairy farm to helping improve children's health in a drought-stricken area of eastern Africa.

• He lives in Chevy Chase, Md., and works for Save the Children, specializing in food security during emergencies.
• His duties include advising a program in northeastern Kenya that gives pastoralists hit hard by a drought in 2011 and part of last year an immediate and future source of milk.
• It's a farm-to-farm-to-table tale.
  Frey recalls school-day evenings, and weekends in Peach Bottom being bracketed by milking cows and doing chores on the 117-acre farm.
• The Kenya project began about 18 months ago, after a devastating drought in 2011 throughout East Africa that saw crops and herds - sources of income and food - destroyed. It will take years to reverse the impact.
• The project gives vouchers for milk to families,getting milk to those who need most.
• About 1000 people 8000 of them children are getting the vouchers it seems to be helping.
• Frey;s jobs is to look at all of this and suggest how to improve the distribution process and the milk's quality.
• Freys periodically travels to Kenya to talk to project staffers and program recipients.

"The world is big, but still small becouse we still have to rely on a few basic things to make it work"he said.

  At World Forum gatherings people often come together to launch global projects on specific issues and topics. Current projects focus on men in ece, AIDS and young children, nature education, peace education, teacher education, and immigration and young children

 Susan Lyon  Her pation begin when he  started to work with children with disabilities and emotional problems.

She share a wonderfull experience that she had with a 1 grade children who wants to know the meaning of the word CITY,and the answer that the boy tell was : "city is a small world such a big place".
She wanted to understand how children see  things and how they understand the world.

Visiting Reggio Emilia and then bringing the “100 Languages of Children” exhibit to the San Francisco.
She always advocate to the children
She initiated the Innovative Teacher Project, and began working with the Presidio Child Care Center and the San Francisco public schools.
She wants to prove that working together private and public schools that quality of work can happen if teachers participate in unit.
 Currently she is working with an Italian architect to rehab a San Francisco structure into the first Italian immersion preschool
How important is to advocate to those children that has different cultures and languages ,we need to be a support for them.

My Supports

My home: My favorite definition is a "safe place where one is free from attack, a place where one experiences secure relationships and affirmation.it's a place where people share and understand each other.its relationships are nurturing.the people in it do not need to be perfect;instead,they need to be honest,loving,supporting,recognizeing a common humanity that makes all of us vulnerable.

I have the support of my family first,my husband he always  support me in the ways he can,help in the house work,with the kids,know .I need that support becouse I begin my studies at Walden
My daughters they are my support now they know how important is for me to study so they have responsabilities in the house:making the bed,doing laundry,studying,being more responsables.
Having the suport of my family make me feel important,they help me,trust in me,and love me. So I want them to feel proud of myself and my accomplishments.
How important is to feel that you have the support of someone,that you are not alone,that you have people that love,share,help, and trust,in you.Without this people ,and without the love and help of my family I would feel very lonely.Because when you feel you have the support,and love of your family, you can have more desire to do things right and move on.
In the life are good and bad experiences, so in all of that moments how important is to have the support of your family, and friends,that make you feel that you are not alone.

My Connections to Play.

The differents games that I used to play are : play with water,mud,clay, kitchen,family,professor,but I see that in some families the chidren still having this type of  play.So we need to continue PLAYING  and explore the world and  be creative ,to share with others and to have a good well-being.

Playing with playdough,not only it is a lovely sensory experience,but playdough gives children the opportunity to create things which is fabulous to strengthen their finger muscles.

Playing outside in the dirt or the mud encompasses all the senses while the child is learning and is a fulfilling hands on activity that not only has been said to be good for you but it connecting the child's spirit,soul,imagination and physical self to the outdoors. When I  was little love to play with water and in the mud.

My best play was in the kitchen

I play in the kitchen of my mother and I pretended  to be the mother it was so funny.



Play is to grow healthy and we should all play with our children,parents,and grandparents.In my case my parents always play with me and now I do the same with my kids, and my students.

RELATIONSHIP REFLECTION

Healthy Relationships relate strongly to people's health and well being.

This is my Family,all of them are important to me ,my parents that allways give me love,and support .they always taught me rules and a good eductation. My siblings we are always sharing great times and we help and communicate with each other,my nephwes which give me joy and always helping them in their growth,they trust me.and finally my cousins they will always be there for me like my siblings.

The relationship that I have with my parents is wonderfull,they are my best friends,I can trust them,they always help me and give me good advice,support me,take care of my children and the most important thing is that they give me lots of love.
 The realtionship that I have with my nice,and nepwes are important for me because I took care of them when they were little and now if any of them have problems they come to me and I help them ,we always talk,and share good moments.





In my family we share great moments,and we help each other,we are happy,and we play and help our children in their development ,we have rules in our home and we enjoy all the moments together.I love my family my husband and my daughters are the best gift God gave me!
Family,together we have it all!

Family isn't always blood.It's the people in your life who want you in theirs;the ones who accept you for who you are.The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who LOVE YOU no matter what.



TO HAVE A NURTURE FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS WE NEED TO HAVE:

• Tolerance,We need to Understand that those we love might have different pictures in mind.
• We need to have Time Together.
• We need to teach less,and listen more,always honor ach other;s viewpoints and dreams,
• Show how much you love your family.
• Always be honest.
• People need to feel they are valued.

Relationships can bring us great joy,they help build your emotions and your social relationships with people.
Trust is very important in having a healthy relationship that grow simultaneusly too.

Our ability to teach children expands past the children and includes family,colleagues,and our community.By involving all of these components we create a rich environment for our children and serve as models for the children to create positive realtionships with other people.

Family-Teacher relationships are essential for learning about the children from an additional and valuable source,promoting children's emotional health,and helping children deal with difficult problems that may have lifelong consequences.

   Is essential in developing

  positive relationships with

CHILD DEVELOPMENT

For me as a teacher the children are part of my life,I always give the best of me to them,that dreary would be the world without children.
I love them,and  shared experiences and best moments of life with them.

 If teaching is to be effective with young children, it must assist them to advance on the way to independence. It must initiate them into those kinds of activities which they can perform themselves and which keep them from being a burden to others because of their inabilities. We must help them to learn how to walk without assistance, to run, to go up and down the stairs, to pick up fallen objects, to dress and undress, to wash themselves, to express their needs in a way that is clearly understood, and to attempt to satisfy their desires through their own efforts. All this is part of an education for independence." (The Discovery of the Child, Maria Montessori)

 Being able to see that child is going ahead and doing things increasingly alone,as an educator makes me feel that I'm doing a good job!,because tomorrow will be children with the ability to solve there own problems.

Testing for Intelligence

• Considering a commitment to viewing young children holistically (i.e., a commitment to "the whole child"), what, if anything, do you believe should be measured or assessed? Explain your reasoning.

I think is important to  be assessed the languague and the motor skills:
The languague is important skill that allows a person to communicate.Can give a child a window to the world,helping to ensure that each child can seize his or her potencial for the future success.

 

Children must develop languague skills to relate with their parents,family and peers,as well as to grow into a person who can socially interact with others through life.

A good motor development predicts an adequate learning process in children literacy.Children can navigate between other areas,notions of space,and laterality,as above-down,right-left,front-back.

The children not only develops motor skills,also allows interactions to integrate the level of thinking,emotions and socialization.

•  In what ways are school-age children assessed in other parts of the world? (Choose a country or region of the world for which you have a personal affinity.)

In Ecuador, assesses some areas :cognitive,social,motor,language,in a process of qualitative assessment of their potential and learning acquired,learning and also the conditions that affect it,is an individualized process.
The evaluation used letters and their meaning for example:
L- logrado in english would be a letter A-Achieved
EP-en proceso in english wouldbe a letter IP-in process
I-Iniciado in english would be a letter I-initiated
NR-necesita refuerzo in englis would be a letter NR-need reinforcement.
In languague theassessment process would be:

Like this form each area is evaluated ,social ,groos motor skill,and fine motor skills ,to realize that we must improve or need to work more in each area.and at the end of the report ,is the observation part.



Early Language and Literacy

Developing language and literacy skills begins at birth through everyday loving interactions—sharing books, telling stories, singing songs, and talking to one another.
